Musicus Bortnianskii (Toronto) founded in 1981 by Myron Maksymiw, is North America's most highly acclaimed Ukrainian-Canadian chamber choir fostering the works of Ukrainian and East European composers of music for chorus and orchestra. The repertoire of Musicus Bortnianskii embraces music from early Renaissance through to that of contemporary composers. Works by Dmytro Bortnianskii (1751-1825) and his contemporaries: Maksym Berezowsky (1745-1777) and Artem Vedel (1767-1808) form the core of the choirs' programme. Musicus Bortnianskii is always at the forefront of presenting new repertoire and challenging audiences with new music, familiarizing them with the unfamiliar Ukrainian past.
